Women of Substance & Style 25th Anniversary Event

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Women of Substance & Style, presented by the globally influential, Philadelphia fashion forge, Joan Shepp. Since its inception, Women of Substance & Style was designed to be, and is, a fashion-forward gathering. It is a movement dedicated to honoring and amplifying the voices of Black women in Philadelphia. The event’s continued success over the past 25 years fortifies its impact and the incredible women it has celebrated.

This year’s occasion is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Joan Shepp’s flagship store on Chestnut Street. This milestone year will be an evening of fashion, culture, and empowerment. 

The 2025 Women of Substance & Style honorees were carefully selected by Tuesday Gordon, Dyana Williams, and Cheryl Ann Wadlington. Each honoree will receive a special certificate recognizing their achievements, symbolizing their commitment to driving change and uplifting others. This evening will be a celebration and a gathering space that births connection over fashion, culture, and philanthropy.

Guests attending Women of Substance & Style will enjoy a dynamic shopping experience featuring a curated selection of women-owned businesses. A portion of sales from the evening will be donated to The Evoluer House, a nonprofit organization that provides disadvantaged young women of color transformative programming preparing them for the triumphant pathways of tomorrow. 

The evening’s light fare will be courtesy of Reggae Reggae Vibes and live musical vibes will be provided by Kayla Childs of Black Buttafly. Space is limited so RSVP is a must. 

As Women of Substance & Style marks its silver anniversary, it continues to serve as an inspiring force for recognizing Black excellence and fostering meaningful community connections. You will leave not only with an elevated sense of style but also with a renewed appreciation for the extraordinary contributions of the women honored, and the future that they are shaping.
