15th and JFK Boulevard’s Uptown Beer Garden will once again be transformed into Who-Ville inspired Uville.
Everyone loves Dr. Seuss’ epic holiday tale, How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Jim Carrey, Boris Karloff. And the people from Uptown Beer Garden, obviously, who once again will transform their Uptown Beer Garden in the heart of Center City into the Who-Ville inspired Uville, and open its doors to a winter culinary and cocktail menu starting tonight.
Uptown Beer Garden and its owner, Teddy Sourias of Craft Concepts and U-Bahn, Bru and Finn McCool fame, will again turn the 15th and JFK Boulevard 7,500 square foot triangle into a wintry, Grinchy wonderland on interactive immersion: of mega-watt lighting, a downtown forest packed with 20 plus piney Christmas trees, nearly 500 ornaments, and more life-sized characters than the Dr. Seuss’ films and books itself.
If you were privy to what the Uptown did for Halloween – a haunted mansion worthy of a Tim Burton cinematic nightmare – turn that into a gift-giving holiday theme, and the Uptown Beer Garden has stepped up their game, and beyond, for Winter 2022. And considering that two million-plus visitors will be heading to its neighboring Christmas Village and Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market to shop and take in the thousands of sparkling lights, warming up by the fire-pits of UVille sounds pretty toasty. And tasty too.
I haven’t been handed a new food menu as yet, but, tasty when it comes to all-things-Craft Concepts means an entirely new booze and cocktail menu at the Uville’s return. This included a “skrewed” spiked hot chocolate cocktail, a whiskey-laden Christmas Bonfire, what will surely be my personal favorite, You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch with ginger brandy and red wine, and one woozy, boozy, and a somewhat troublesome drink called Wallow in Self Pity that I’ll let you discover on your own as it seems so darn personal.
Who’s Ville? Uville!
