There’s a fresh pulse of excitement brewing in West Philadelphia, and its name is the uCity Square Beer Garden. This exuberant pop-up bar perfectly captures the neighborhood’s nostalgic essence while playfully nodding to its future potential. Nestled cozily at uCity Square’s The Lawn at 37th and Filbert Streets, the beer garden’s spacious exterior is both an ode to West Philly’s glorious past and an open embrace of its boundless future.
uCity Square, known for its impressive Knowledge Community, collaborated with the brilliant minds of the MilkBoy Restaurant Group and Our People Entertainment (OPE) to birth this beer haven. The result? A brilliantly crafted space centered around a visually striking shipping container bar stocked with an array of locally sourced beverages. As described by the masterminds behind this venture, the uCity Square Beer Garden is “a testament to West Philly’s past, present, and limitless future. Cheers to unity, culture, and community!”
Speaking of beverages, patrons can look forward to indulging in flavorsome concoctions from renowned local breweries. From the Two Locals Brewing Company, slated to set up its permanent brewery and taphouse nearby, to Chill Moody’s nicethingsBEER, the options are diverse and tantalizing. Seasonal delights from Yards Brewing Company and Love City Brewing will also make appearances. To complement the brews, there’s a range of skillfully crafted cocktails, exquisite wines, and locally canned specialties to choose from. And for those foodie moments, a dynamic lineup of food trucks will be rolling in to satiate all palates.
Art and culture enthusiasts are in for a treat at the uCity Square Beer Garden. The establishment is adorned with a captivating mural loaned from the HopePHL non-profit, crafted by the gifted West Philly artist Emmanuel Elufemi Olatunji, fondly known as “Femi”. This art piece intricately blends the heart and soul of the neighborhood into the garden’s ambiance, reminding guests of the area’s rich history and its ongoing journey toward unity and growth.
The uCity Square Beer Garden promises not just great drinks and bites but also a lineup of electrifying events. From the Headshot Happy Hour to live music nights and a spine-chilling movie screening of “Scream,” there’s something for everyone.
There are several upcoming free events that will take place at The Lawn and uCity Square Beer Garden.On Saturday, October 14, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, there will be a live performance by The Female Takeover. On Thursday, October 26, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, you can enjoy a live performance by Moody’s Klubbhouse UNPLUGGED. Finally, on Friday, October 27, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, you can watch the movie ‘Scream’ at the Movies on the Lawn event. All of these events are free and open to the public.
Planning a visit? The uCity Square Beer Garden is open on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with varying hours on Sundays. Good vibes only.
