Name: Siaani Love
Occupation: Renaissance Woman (DJ, Makeup Artist, Model, Entrepreneur, Content Creator).
Current city: Philadelphia, PA.
Born and raised there or imported? I was actually born at the University of Penn. I lived in Philly as a baby and moved to Hoboken/Jersey City from kindergarten to 8th grade. After meeting my father at 13, I moved in with him and my sisters and attended and graduated from Abington High School.
What is your connection to your current city? I get so much love in Philly! But it’s all about me pushing myself to my limits and after battling and overcoming so many demons and things I was dealing with. I had to take a break and get my body, mind, and soul back right. Now that I could do that and put the work in, I’m ready to take this city back over! The old Siaani that people know? Trust me! I’m not that anymore, and I thank God for pushing me to reach my full potential.
What’s your favorite restaurant? Ocean Prime, Outback Steak House, Byblos, and Damo Pasta Lab.
Best place to shop? I love online shopping. I do a lot of shopping from a Black-owned business called Tanaja. I don’t discriminate. I shop anywhere! I love Second Street Consignment Store, Urban Outfitters, Zara, Dolls Kill, Karma Loop.
What is your one favorite “best kept secret” about your city? Something that you and only a few others know about but everyone should? If you’re running or starting a business, I’ve noticed a lot of people are scared to promote themselves! My best-kept secret about this city is it’s a ton of money that can be made, but we as Black women and men, we gotta start pushing ourselves more and get out of poverty!
What makes your city, Siaani Love’s city? What do you absolutely love about it? Anyone can tell when someone is from Philly. Our swag, our lingo (that a lot of other places try to take credit for. Philly has the best talent! We are really the shit! And out-of-towners always wanna visit and come through Philly, especially the artists and rappers, for the juice. I absolutely love our swag! We are trendsetters in Philly! The history. Anywhere a Philly person goes, especially out of town, we attract the energy! Philly is and will always be the wave. I want this violence in this city to end though. It’s too many children, teenage boys and girls, and street beef happening daily. I pray we can be together as a community one day and realize how powerful we are as African American people! We run this! People just have to believe that in themselves. But outside the violence, I will always love my city.
