Ray Beldner at Bridgette Mayer Gallery

Bridgette Mayer Gallery presents Beautiful Freak, a solo exhibition by Ray Beldner, featuring his latest sculptural collages crafted from laser-cut wood forms. This current exhibition runs from February 4 to March 22, with a special artist reception and happy hour on February 7 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Alongside Beldner’s work, the gallery’s Vault will feature To Dance All Night, a collection of charcoal drawings by Allen Bentley, capturing the dynamic energy of movement through expressive forms.

Beautiful Freak is an exploration of the boundary between two and three dimensions, blurring the line between collage and sculpture. Ray Beldner’s compositions are created from fragmented images sourced from art history books, auction catalogs, and magazines, which he reassembles into intricate, multi-layered forms. Drawing influence from modernist sculptors, his recent shift from a concept-driven process to a more instinctive, organic exploration resulted in strategic spontaneity. The artist breaks down then rebuilds historical imagery, reimagining the past, creating a new outlook on the source material.
