York Street Hustle honors Quincy Jones
A stirring tribute to the iconic Quincy Jones, the groundbreaking producer, composer, and arranger who passed away last fall is coming to the Philadelphia region. On Saturday, May 3, Ardmore Music Hall will host an evening of performances dedicated to Quincy Jones’ timeless R&B, soundtrack work, and unforgettable collaborations with legends like Michael Jackson, the Brothers Johnson, and Aretha Franklin. This special night, billed as “The Soul of Quincy Jones,” is part of the We Live On Foundation’s ongoing fundraising concert series, an initiative spearheaded by promoter Derek Dorsey, who has been courageously battling a rare neurological disorder for the past five years. All proceeds will support those facing profound health obstacles.

York Street Hustle, a classic soul tribute band renowned for reviving vintage grooves, will headline a program devoted entirely to Jones. The group plans to deliver faithful renditions of the Jone’s catalog, including soundtrack highlights from “The Color Purple” and “The Wiz.” The band’s 11-member lineup has already previewed its homage by releasing “Sister From Texas,” originally cut by Aretha Franklin under the production of Quincy Jones for her album “Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky).”
