Did Philadelphia born-and-bred rapper and producer Lil Uzi Vert just buy a planet?
In the last several years, we have watched Philadelphia born-and-bred rapper and producer, Lil Uzi Vert, move from being an Instagram fashion icon, an ATV rider, a man with a very large and very rare $24 million jewel in his forehead and a tattoo on his tongue, and the boyfriend of City Girls Jatavia “JT” Johnson.
But, along with debuting his long-awaited new “Pink Tape” music at the weekend’s Rolling Loud Festival in Miami before his set was blocked from the YouTube live stream (here is a snippet of a track possibly called “Racks Up”), word has it that Uzi bought a planet. A whole planet.
Word first came about the interstellar acquisition last week from musician-vocalist Grimes who tweeted: “Documentation almost complete for @LILUZIVERT to legally claim wasp-127b — this is huge! First human to legally own a planet.”
Lil Uzi Vert didn’t respond yay or nay but did tweet back, “I tried 2 surprise everyone. Still working on it.”
While some experts have claimed that owning a giant gaseous mass such as exoplanet WASP-127b is a fraud, I would say that if anyone in hip hop or beyond could own a planet, it would be Lil Uzi Vert (and yes, I have heard the rumors that rapper Soulja Boy also owns a planet, but, c’mon, man).
Watch the skies.
