After a three year hiatus, the Niagara Icewine Festival returns for a three weekend tour in 2023 to the Niagara Peninsula.
After a three year hiatus, the 2023 Niagara Icewine Festival is returning with an array of events to be enjoyed over the span of three January weekends. This festival which can boast being one of the largest in the world has something special planned for wine aficionados and foodies alike. Delight yourself in ice-cold VQA wines and savor culinary experiences exclusive only to the Niagara Peninsula while celebrating Ontario’s savory culture. VQA or Vintners Quality Alliance signifies that the wine is made from 100% Ontario-grown, vetted and approved grapes.
“Niagara celebrates Icewine like nowhere else in the world. The Niagara Icewine Festival is a magical time to visit Wine Country Ontario and offers wine lovers a taste of something that is authentically Canadian,” said Sylvia Augaitis, Executive Director of Marketing for the Wine Marketing Association of Ontario. “Ontario wine country street festivals and galas are an invitation to uncover the many ways to enjoy Ontario VQA Icewine – from VQA Icewine cocktails to spicy, sweet and savoury VQA Icewine food experiences.”
The all-new Cool as Ice Gala at the Niagara Parks Power Station will kick off the festival on Saturday, January 14. Indulge in an amazing selection of VQA Icewine, table wine and cocktails while nibbling on creations from some of Niagara’s best chefs. Plus, explore “The Tunnel” located 180 feet below ground, yet overlooking majestic views of Niagara Falls.
The celebration continues on Friday, January 20th with the Sparkle & Ice Gala at the Courthouse Grand Hall. The party continues on Niagara-on-the-Lake’s historic Queen Street during the two weekends of celebrations that follow: January 21st and 22nd, then January 28th and 29th. The celebration returns on Saturday night to the Courthouse Grand Hall for the Niagara Icewine Cocktail Competition.
A notable feature is the Niagara Icewine Festival Discovery Pass which runs Fridays to Sundays, January 13 through 29. The Discovery Pass grants access to six unique VQA Ontario Icewine and food pairings from 28 wineries across the Niagara Peninsula. All festival information and details can be found in the Niagara Icewine Festival Calendar of Events.
It’s been a few years since I’ve crossed the Northern border into Canada but if there were ever a reason, the 2023 Niagara Icewine Festival just might be it.
