Celebrate National Taco Day on Monday with Café Ynez, Sor Ynez, Rebel Taco at The Bourse Food Hall and others.
Monday, October 4th is National Taco Day and a selection of local Philly Mexican restaurants are offering their own twists on Tacos for you to indulge in.
South Philly’s Café Ynez on Washington Avenue is offering both meat and vegetarian options for National Taco Day. Options include their signature Chicken, Carnita, or Steak Tacos topped with pico de gallo, cotija cheese, smoked jalapeño salsa, served on two soft corn tortillas. The Tuna Tacos feature Togarashi tuna pan-seared over a bed of lettuce, radish, cucumber, and white onions, topped with cilantro and a drizzle of homemade chipotle ranch aioli on soft corn tortillas. For the vegetarian Taco lover, Café Ynez has you covered with their Cauliflower Tacos made with deep-fried cauliflower in a sweet and spicy chipotle sauce, pickled cabbage, sliced avocado, and radish on soft corn tortillas.
Executive Chef Alex Tellez at South Kensington’s Sor Ynez is offering up a selection of Tacos that include the meatless Alt Pastor, composed of spit-roasted cauliflower, red chile, fresh pineapple, salsa verde, onions, and cilantro, as well as the Fluke Milanesa with crispy breaded fluke cutlet, lush green avocado slices, topped with shaved red cabbage, tangy chipotle mayo, and served on fresh tortillas.
Here are a few other notable Taco spots that are worthy of a nod…
Cantina Los Caballitos on the East side of Passyunk Avenue will let you create the Taco that you like with corn tortillas as a base, topped with onion, cilantro, lime, and a choice of protein such as steak, vegan beef, carnitas, mahi mahi, shrimp, and more.
Pistolas Del Sur is offering their juicy Filet Mignon Tacos served with garden-fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and topped with crispy onions.
Rebel Taco at The Bourse Food Hall is serving up The Get Shorty: short rib, fresh cilantro and onions, avocado crema, shoestring yucca, and placed on a corn tortilla. They, too, offer a meatless option, the Eat Your Veggies, made with a variety of seasonal veggies, shoestring yucca, onions, topped off with fresh house-made guacamole, tangy chipotle, and wrapped in a corn tortilla.
Feliz Dia Nacional del Taco!
