Get ready to celebrate National Ice Cream Day 2022, the Philly way.
Ok, here is a little Americana history for you. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month to give glory to the U.S. dairy industry. The third Sunday of July was designated as National Ice Cream Day. Get ready to get your scoop on as the 2022 holiday falls on Sunday, July 17.
Here are a few choice Philly spots to pull up and enjoy an after-dinner scoop or four…
The Goat Rittenhouse‘s sundae features three scoops of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry gelato topped with chocolate syrup, caramel, chopped nuts, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a crowned with cherry.
After a nice steak dinner at Alpen Rose, perhaps, enjoy a mountain of their sundae composed of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry ice cream with bananas, whip cream, and varied sweet toppings on the side to top it off.
Maybe you are looking to keep the ice cream social going all month long. We’ve got you covered with these Philly favs that are celebrating for the entire month of July…
Visit The Dutchess in Pennsport for its Saturday Night Social, a weekly pop-up on Saturdays in July from 4 pm to 8 pm, and enjoy spirited ice cream offerings such as the Spiked Birch Beer Vanilla Ice Cream Rum Float or the Lime Sorbet Spicy Watermelon Margarita. They also make their own semifreddo-style Malted Milk Chocolate and Vanilla Salted Caramel Ice Cream.
Boozy Milkshakes and Soda Floats at Scoop Deville at The Bourse Food Hall look delicious and satisfying. Art in the Age has teamed up with Milk Jawn for Boozy Ice Cream collaboration. Ice cream indulgers can enjoy, “Double Fold Vanilla flavor, as well as a weekly recurring flavor topped with the buyer’s choice of a top-tier spirit from Art in the Age and sister distillery Tamworth Distilling, with fruity cordials including Sierra Fig, Mountain Berry, Black Trumpet Blueberry (the only cordial made with mushrooms and reminiscent of blueberry pie), Apple Crisp, and notably, The Pathfinder Hemp and Root, the zero proof elixir that’s been turning the spirits industry on its end.”
I can think of a few ways to cool off from the summer heat and currently, ice cream is topping the list. I scream… You scream… Happy National Ice Cream Day and Month!
