During the Month of 1000 pies, enjoy delectable pies from Red Owl Tavern and support a noble cause with Philabundance…
This November, Red Owl Tavern’s cherished Month of 1000 Pies initiative is set to triumphantly return for the first time since 2019. The effort artfully marries two things Philadelphians hold dear: indulgent, flavorful pies and the unwavering spirit of community support.
By the close of November, half the proceeds from every scrumptious pie sold will go straight to Philabundance, the paramount hunger relief entity of Philadelphia and Delaware Valley. Since its inception in 1984, Philabundance has dispersed an awe-inspiring 52.2 million pounds of food into the community, with a notable 72% being both healthful and nutritious.
Philabundance, with its unwavering mission to eradicate hunger and its repercussions, partners with over 350 community allies. Distributing food across nine counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, they’ve become an emblematic figure in the Feeding America network. Their endeavors stretch beyond mere distribution, as they aim to curb food wastage, improve access to wholesome meals, and address the foundational causes of hunger.
Lovers of decadence can look forward to daily freshly-baked highlights, including the rich Sweet Potato Pie and the creamy Coconut Custard Pie. Each pie can be yours for $15, or purchase two for $26. Pie aficionados can pre-order their favorites online or choose to do so via phone or an in-person visit, albeit in limited quantities daily.
Red Owl Tavern’s Executive Chef Charles Vogt expressed his heartfelt enthusiasm, saying, “I am so proud to bring back this rewarding holiday tradition here at Red Owl Tavern. I cannot wait to continue contributing to this program and helping more people who are in need at this otherwise warm and wonderful time of year.”
