Name: Mikel Elam
Occupation: Visual Artist.
Current city: Philadelphia, PA.
Born and raised there or imported? Philadelphia, born and raised.
What is your connection to your current city? I would have to say the incredibly vast and ultra talented artist’s communities in Philadelphia.
What’s your favorite restaurant? Actually so many, I can’t say which is the best. I am a plant based human so my preferences are always towards restaurants which have options for my lifestyle. Vedge. Nirvana Indian Bistro. Buna Cafe.
Best place to shop (for food)? Mom’s Organic Market.
What is your one favorite “best kept secret” about your city? Something that you and only a few others know about but everyone should? The Woodmere Art Museum in Chestnut Hill. Charming, accessible and lesser known to people overall visiting the city. Even people living in the city have not visited this museum. The Woodmere Museum of Art’s primary focus is the works of Philadelphia artists.
What makes your city, Mikel Elam’s city? What do you absolutely love about it? The incredible parks and trails. The vast array of restaurants, cafes and watering holes. There is always something to do on any given day or evening.
