Name: Mechelle Sabb
Occupation: Deputy Director of Operations for Special Events.
Born and raised or imported to Philly? Charleston, South Carolina… but have been a resident of Philadelphia for over the last 30 years.
Favorite restaurant in Philly? Sabrina’s Café because I love breakfast food.
Best place to shop in Philly (food, clothes, gifts, jewelry, etc). Select one? Select one. The King of Prussia Mall and/or Cherry Hill Mall.
What is your one favorite “best kept secret” about Philly? Something that you and only a few others know about but everyone should… All the historic sites and natural trails in Fairmount Park. The richness of Philly and the people are genuine – at least the ones that I have come across.
What makes Philly your Philly? What do you absolutely love about the city? The uniqueness of the different and defining neighborhoods within Philadelphia. North Philly is hardcore and the heart of Philadelphia. That’s just me being biased because I lived there most of my life. South Philly is a close net neighborhood and has the most interesting history. West Philly was what you would call Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy neighborhoods with row homes. The East Division of Philly has the working-class community. I say all this to say, you could go to any of these neighborhoods and get a different experience and feel for the area. That’s what I love about Philly.
