Stir at the Philadelphia Museum of Art offers a memorable culinary experience with two exclusive tasting menus inspired by the “Mary Cassatt at Work” exhibition, starting May 18th. This event merges the worlds of art and cuisine by paying homage to native Pennsylvanian and French Impressionist Painter Mary Cassatt. The museum exhibition will feature 130 of Cassatt’s pieces.
Reflecting the themes and historical context of Mary Cassatt’s work, the French-inspired tasting menus crafted by Stir’s Executive Chef Hoon Rheet aim to engage guests’ palates with flavors that evoke the era and essence of Cassatt’s art. The six-course tasting menu, available for $135 per person, includes delicacies such as Pommes Soufflé adorned with royal ossetra caviar, Duck Pâté en Croûte with foie gras, and Trout enhanced with charred onion petals and white tea beurre blanc.
Stir will offer an afternoon tea service priced at $45 per person. The menu features a delightful assortment of savory bites like Jamon Beurre and cucumber sandwiches, as well as sweet treats like Seasonal Macarons and Madeleines. This menu draws further inspiration from Cassatt’s personal life, with service items like handmade teacups and saucers crafted by ceramics students from Arcadia University, reflecting the Impressionistic colors found in Cassatt’s paintings.
The restaurant setting, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and located within the Philadelphia Museum of Art, provides an immersive environment where guests can dine beneath an impressive wooden structure known as The Nest.
The special menus will be offered alongside Stir’s regular a la carte offerings and are available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when the restaurant is closed. Reservations are recommended and can be made online, and museum admission is required for dining.
The museum exhibition and the inspired menu at Stir celebrate Mary Cassatt’s legacy and elevate the dining experience by integrating it with the cultural and artistic expressions showcased at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
