Manayunk’s much-anticipated Stroll the Street event is back for its ninth year. From June 6th to August 29th, every Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Main Street Manayunk will come alive with an array of exciting activities.
Each month will bring a different theme, starting with Art in June, Music in July, and wrapping up with Pets in August. Expect live music, captivating art installations, outdoor vendors, and fantastic local businesses and restaurants’ happy hour deals. You can check out participants like City of Paws Pet Care, Creative Collective, Minor Details, Winnie’s Manayunk, Vibe Philly Events, Fat Lady Brewing, and many others. The MNYK Artbox on Cotton Street will showcase everything from art demos and interactive installations to a doggie fashion show and community paint night.
The event stretches from Green Lane to Shurs Lane and is free to enjoy. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The event’s website will have all updates due to weather or schedule changes.
The series is kicking off with Plein on Main on June 6th, a plein air competition hosted by Orbit Art Gallery. The streets will be full of artists painting scenes of historic Main Street Manayunk, competing for cash prizes, with a community showcase and awards ceremony in the evening.
Music fans, get excited about performances at various locations along Main Street, including Canal View Park and Ring Street. Each week, the themes promise a diverse lineup of activities, such as an interactive drum circle on July 11th, open mic night on July 18th, and a jazz orchestra performance on July 25th.
August is all about pets with exciting activities like Peanut Butter Puppy Paint on August 1st, a Doggie Fashion Show with Roberto Negrin on August 8th, and Canine Caricatures on August 22nd. The month wraps up with a Pup Cup Buffet on August 29th, where pups can enjoy treats and toppings like peanut butter and bacon.
Stroll the Street is the ideal opportunity to visually immerse yourself in the charm of Manayunk’s alleyways, adorned with vibrant lights and captivating art. You’ll have the chance to explore the neighborhood’s numerous murals and capture some truly incredible photo opportunities, all while savoring ice cream and the unique vibes of Main Street.
