Lunch at Butcher Bar returns as the Rittenhouse’s comfort food hot spot reintroduces its robust lunch service, offering various hearty and savory options ideal for any daytime dining occasion. Available Wednesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the menu includes an array of dishes that promise to cater to all tastes, from quick bites to full-flavored steaks and sandwiches.
Lunch at Butcher Bar is a welcome return to form for the venue, which had paused its lunch offerings since 2020. The menu features a range of options from lighter salads to substantial sandwiches and premium cuts like strip steak and ribeye, making it an ideal choice for various dining needs, including casual lunches, corporate meetings, and group dining events. The reintroduction of lunch service aligns perfectly with the reopening of offices in Center City, providing a much-needed high-quality lunch option focusing on flavor, portion size, and an enjoyable dining experience.
Chef John Strain, the Executive Chef since Butcher Bar’s opening, has crafted a menu that emphasizes American comfort food with a creative twist. Among the highlights are the Smashed Meatball and Spaghetti Sub, featuring pork ragu and provolone on a toasted garlic bread roll, and the House Smoked Turkey Club, which includes layers of lettuce, tomato, and applewood smoked bacon enhanced with rosemary aioli on toasted sourdough. For those seeking something different, the Bang Bang Shrimp Salad Bowl offers a lighter yet flavorful option with arugula, iceberg lettuce, shaved red onions, and candied cashews, dressed with Poi Dog Chili Peppah Water aioli and ginger dressing.
The restaurant has also introduced a new “Hoppy Hour” that includes a Hoppy Meal deal, combining a single-patty burger with fries and a Love City Lager for $15, available Sunday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to the food, Lunch at Butcher Bar features an extensive beverage menu with 16 beers on tap, including selections like My Local Brew Works Belgium Citrus Wit and St. Boniface Coffee Amber Lager. The wine and cocktail offerings are equally impressive, with options like the Butterfly Effect cocktail, a mix of tequila, lemon, pineapple, and orange liqueur topped with butterfly pea flower tea.
Reservations are encouraged but optional. The restaurant continues to offer its full a la carte menu alongside the new lunch offerings, ensuring options suit all palates and preferences.
