The Inis Nua Theatre Company is excited to present “Lovesong” by Welsh writer Abi Morgan at the Louis Bluver Theatre at the Drake from June 5 through 23, 2024.
“Lovesong” tells the story of the marriage of English couple Maggie and Billy. Award-winning actors Mary Martello and Kirk Wendell Brown play the older versions of the couple, while Gabe Moses and Taylor Congdon portray the younger versions. The play moves back and forth between past and present, exploring love, aging, and the enduring power of connection.
Choreographer K. O’Rourke brings a unique approach to storytelling, integrating movement and physicality into the narrative using the renowned Frantic Assembly method, enhancing the emotional depth of the play.
The production benefits from a stellar creative team, including set design by Meghan Jones, costumes by Barbara Delo, lighting by Christopher Chambers, and sound by Damien Figueras. Dramaturg Meghan Winch and dialect coach Len Kelly ensure an authentic and polished performance.
Tickets for “Lovesong” by Abi Morgan are available for $23 to $35, with discounts for seniors, students, and theater industry professionals. The show includes 17 performances, with Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday shows at 7 p.m., Saturday shows at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Preview performances are on June 5 and 6, with the official opening night on June 7.
