East Kensington’s Little Walter’s has quickly established itself as a standout in Philadelphia’s dining scene. This contemporary Polish restaurant and bar is helmed by Chef and Owner Michael Brenfleck, who brings a personal touch and deep respect for Polish culinary traditions to the table.
Little Walter’s impresses with its commitment to modern Polish meals, combining local ingredients with authentic flavors. From house-made sourdough rye bread to perfectly grilled kielbasa and pierogi ruskie, the menu celebrates tradition and innovation.
A centerpiece of the restaurant is Chef Brenfleck’s custom wood-fired iron oven and grill, which not only enhances the flavors of the dishes but also adds a distinctive touch to the dining experience.
Highlights on the menu include Kiełbasa, a flavorful pork shoulder sausage seasoned with coriander and marjoram; Surówka, a refreshing selection of raw and pickled salads; Pierogi Ruskie, tender dumplings filled with potato, farmer cheese, and caramelized onion; and Wieprzowina z Roźna, succulent rotisserie pork served with herb potatoes and kapusta. The restaurant offers a curated beverage program featuring Polish spirits, craft cocktails, local beers, wines, and non-alcoholic options to complement these dishes.
Little Walter’s has recently expanded its offerings with Monday service and the introduction of Szczęśliwa Godzina, or Happy Hour. This new feature includes enticing $9 cocktails like Piłkarz, a pickle juice martini, and Urbanista, a blend of Żubr Polish lager and Żubrówka Polish Vodka. The menu also features $5 select beers and wines by the glass, $4 Pickle Popcorn with aged cheddar and dill, and $6 Pierogi Ruskie. Szczęśliwa Godzina is available from 4 pm to 10 pm on Mondays and from 4 pm to 6 pm Tuesday through Saturday. The bar area operates on a first-come-first-served basis, while dinner reservations are recommended and can be made via Resy.
Little Walter’s has quickly become a must-visit destination in Philadelphia, offering a vibrant, elevated dining experience that merges Polish tradition with modern flair.
