Commemorating ten years, Philadelphia’s Le Dîner en Blanc returns to its original 2012 venue, Logan Square.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Le Dîner en Blanc – Philadelphia enjoyed an incredible evening with over 5,000 elegantly dressed attendees on a beautiful summer evening. The historic Logan Square served as a setting for guests to dine while enjoying spectacular entertainment and learning about Le Dîner en Blanc’s rich history. With napkin waves, guests – clad all in white – signaled the start of the event and soon after lit up the square with sparklers.
“We are elated to be celebrating 10 years of Le Dîner en Blanc Philadelphia at Logan Square!” said Natanya DiBona, Co-Host of Le Dîner en Blanc Philadelphia. “As many may know, this was the location for the very first Le Dîner en Blanc in 2012 so we thought it was only right to bring the event back 10 years later. Everything from the food and entertainment, to the traditions and location, have served nothing but nostalgia on this beautiful summer night.”
The inaugural 2012 event was organized by DiBona and Kayli Moran with the help of a volunteer organizing team of six. A team of 30 Table Leaders and volunteers guided guests to Swann Fountain near Logan Circle this year. In addition to walking, taking the metro, charter buses, and other modes of transportation, over 5,500 people attended the event this year, making it the largest in the nation.
Dîner en Blanc (“Dinner in White” in French) started with François Pasquier inviting a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at the Bois de Boulogne in 1988, asking them to dress in white so they could find each other. For its 30th anniversary, nearly 17,000 people gathered in Paris for the worldwide event, which is now held in six continents and more than 85 cities. Each guest is responsible for providing their own food, tables, chairs, and tablecloths for elegant temporary dining in a public space. On the day of the dinner, only those who have previously signed up are informed of the location, usually an iconic urban landmark.
There was a stellar lineup of talented artists and touring entertainers at Dîner En Blanc – Philadelphia, including The MadBeatz drumline, The Hot Club of Philadelphia, Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret, Snack Time Philly, The Ernest Stuart Band, and more. Philly Girls Jump, Hip Hop Fundamentals, Great on Skates, and The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, all favorites from previous events, returned this year as well.
There is a growing level of affluence and elegance among the guests every year. One of the highlights of this spectacular event is the stunning tablescapes, which combine creativity and design. “Best Dressed” and “Most Elegant Table” were judged this year by Cass Foley and Sabir Peele of Men’s Style Pro.
