Latchkey Records is turning one, and to celebrate this first anniversary, they are throwing themselves a 90s-themed extravaganza!
Get ready to step back in time and immerse yourself in a nostalgic celebration as Latchkey, East Passyunk Avenue’s beloved destination for vinyl, vintage treasures, and good vibes, marks its first anniversary. The Latchkey First Anniversary Karaoke Blowout takes place on Saturday, June 10, from 12 to 6 pm, featuring an exciting lineup of activities, including karaoke hosted by DJ Pat Pharari, refreshing libations from Otto Distilling Co., and the chance to win fantastic prizes. But the festivities won’t stop there! From 7 to 10 pm, the Afterparty Like It’s 1999 will transport attendees to the era of flannel shirts and Tamagotchis, with a ticketed 90s-themed bash with engaging entertainment, complimentary cocktails, delectable bites, and more surprises to keep the party going.
Latchkey, founded by local media producer-turned-entrepreneur Marc Faletti, is a haven for those who yearn for the glory days of the 80s and 90s. With an extensive collection of vinyl records, vintage jewelry, band tees, collectibles, games, graphic novels, VHS tapes, and an array of awesome items, Latchkey has become a beloved fixture in the community since its launch in June 2022. Latchkey continues to captivate a devoted following through its engaging community events and activations. From hosting band signing events to organizing a monthly 80s/90s Quizzo night in partnership with the P.O.P.E. (Pub On Passyunk East), Latchkey has solidified its position as a cultural hub that resonates with people’s shared love for pop culture nostalgia.
The First Anniversary Karaoke Blowout, taking place from 12 to 6 pm on June 10, will allow attendees to showcase their vocal talents with karaoke led by DJ Pat Pharari. The most impressive performances will be rewarded with $20 Latchkey gift cards. Refreshments will be provided by Otto Distilling Co., a local South Philly-based rum distillery, starting at 3 pm. Their mobile cash bar will be on-site, offering a selection of their craft distilled rums. Throughout the event, guests can also explore and purchase Latchkey’s impressive collection of vinyl records, vintage jewelry, band tees, graphic novels, VHS tapes, and more. As the sun sets, the Afterparty Like It’s 1999 will run until 10 pm.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and dress in their finest 90s-themed attire. The best-dressed individual will be crowned and rewarded with a free vinyl record of their choice from Latchkey’s extensive inventory. The evening will also feature an open self-serve bar, courtesy of Philadelphia’s first custom craft brewery, My Local Brew Works, offering a variety of beer, wine, craft cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. The night’s signature cocktail is the Mazzy Star, crafted with Manatawny Still Works vodka and lavender lemonade. Tickets to the Afterparty Like It’s 1999 are priced at $30 each and available in limited quantities.
