Hyatt Centric Center City Philly continues with its Maker Series, exhibiting the watercolors of painter, Joe Barker.
For over forty years, Joe Barker has been a part of the greater Philadelphia community. After a stint of homelessness, he found a new sense of purpose through art and his creative perspective on life. Today, you can see his watercolor paintings and murals, all over Philly’s Center City. His artwork has earned him recognition from clientele that includes the Rittenhouse Hotel, which still houses a Joe Barker watercolor painting in every one of its 99 rooms, Philadelphia mayors and Pennsylvania governors. His work continues to be represented by LAA Art Collective in New Hope, PA.
Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia hotel presents Joe Barker as the next entrant into its “Maker Series”. This exhibition will feature several of Barker’s watercolor paintings of iconic Philly cityscapes from February 1 through February 28. The hotel is inviting art appreciators to its Meet the Maker reception for the artist on Thursday, February 2 from 6 pm to 8 pm where a selection of Barker’s work will be on display, and light bites will be enjoyed.
“It’s a joy to present at the Hyatt Centric, an arm’s reach from Rittenhouse Square. My work is very concentrated in this area; I’ve painted thousands of pieces here, and many of them found their home in businesses and residences here. Philly and I go way back, and this exhibit is an ode to the city and a reminder of that.” – Joe Barker.
