Philadelphia’s inaugural Iwate Wagyu Restaurant Week running through February 7, 2025, is presented by the Iwate Prefecture, Japan External Trade Organization, and Wagyu Sommelier. This event brings A5 Wagyu beef from Japan’s Iwate Prefecture to Philly’s top dining venues. Additionally, from February 1 to February 28, 2025, premium grocery retailers in the region will offer A5 Wagyu retail promotions in collaboration with JFOODO, making this sought-after delicacy available to home chefs.

Iwate Wagyu is renowned as one of the most premium beef varieties in the world, raised in the pristine environment of Japan’s Iwate Prefecture, where pure mountain water, fresh air, and stress-free farming techniques create exceptional marbling, tenderness, and an intense umami flavor. This certification-backed beef ensures diners experience the highest quality Wagyu, served in innovative and exclusive dishes across Philadelphia’s best restaurants.

For this inaugural Iwate Wagyu Restaurant Week, nine premier restaurants across Philly will feature exclusive A5 Wagyu dishes. Lacroix Restaurant at the Rittenhouse will present Japanese Wagyu Tartare (Knuckle) and Wagyu Steak (Striploin). Royal Boucherie will offer Wagyu Bouchées de Bœuf Wellington (Rump) and an A5 Wagyu Steak for Two (Chuck Roll). El Chingon will highlight Carne Asada Tacos (Short Plate), Wagyu Pastrami Aguachile (Knuckle), and Wagyu Fat Tamales (Fat). Liberty Kitchen will serve an A5 Japanese Wagyu Roast Beef Sandwich (Shank), while Kampar will introduce Wagyu Rendang and Wagyu Suen Poon Chee. Morimoto will showcase A5 Wagyu Short Rib Hoba Miso, with Cornerstone Bistro (Wayne, PA), Hook & Ladder (Conshohocken, PA), and Barclay Prime also participating with specially curated menus.

To enhance the dining experience, Iwate Wagyu Restaurant Week offers the Iwate Wagyu Passport, an interactive way for diners to track their visits to all participating restaurants. Passports will be available for download or in print at each location, allowing guests to collect stamps at every stop. Those who complete the journey will receive a special prize and social media recognition from Wagyu Sommelier.

Alongside the restaurant week, the A5 Wagyu Retail Promotion will take place from February 1 to February 28, 2025, allowing food enthusiasts to purchase premium Iwate Wagyu at select high-end grocery stores. Participating retailers include DiBruno Brothers (Rittenhouse, Ardmore, and Wayne, PA locations) and Altomonte’s (Doylestown and Warminster, PA locations), with additional locations to be announced. Customers will have the chance to sample different cuts of Wagyu while learning about the differences between Japanese and American Wagyu beef, with the opportunity to take home pre-cut portions to cook their own gourmet meals.

This month-long event is made possible by JFOODO (The Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center), an organization established by the Japanese government in 2017 to promote Japanese agricultural, fishery, and food products worldwide. Through its partnership with Philadelphia’s top restaurants and retailers, Iwate Wagyu Restaurant Week offers the opportunity to indulge in authentic Japanese A5 Wagyu while discovering the rich culinary traditions of Iwate Prefecture.
