Rejoice, lovers of beer as your holiday is upon us. Several Philly breweries and bars prepare to celebrate International Beer Day.
International Beer Day will be celebrated on August 6. Founded by Jesse Avshalomov of Santa Cruz, California in 2007 to honor beer, beer makers and those that serve beer from all around the world in one single day. What began in Cali, is now celebrated worldwide in 207 cities, 80 countries and 6 continents.
In Philly, we are celebrating International Beer Day in our special way as a number of breweries and bars will offer exclusive brews, collaborations and events for beer enthusiasts to indulge in.

2SP Brewing Company and Wawa
Sunfest Strawberry Shandy: “A crushable, light-bodied beach beer with a touch of sweetness made with Wawa’s fresh lemonade.” A limited-edition release, the Sunfest Strawberry Shandy can be found at select Wawa stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, as well as the 2SP Brewing Company in Aston, PA. The Shandy will be available throughout the summer.
My Local Brew Works
On Wednesday, August 11, the nano-brewery is hosting a beer giveaway from 1 pm to 5 pm. at The Wilma Theater for the Philadelphia theater community. My Local Brew Works will give away free four-packs of its limited-edition, summer-inspired brews to theater performers, crew and staff. Register for the giveaway HERE.
Philadelphia Brewing Company
Enjoy live jazz music on International Beer Day at Kensington’s Philadelphia Brewing Company. Philly’s largest and oldest brewery kicks off a new summer series of live music from their loading dock. Concerts are scheduled every Friday, beginning at 8 pm and running through 10 pm. Paired with signature brews, patrons can enjoy the offerings of food trucks that will be parked just outside of the brewery. Don’t forget to purchase a six-pack or a case to go before the evening concludes.
