FringeArts, in collaboration with the Circadium School of Contemporary Circus, is delighted to announce the return of the Hand to Hand Circus Festival, scheduled from May 31 to June 2, 2024. The festival promises a stunning showcase of circus arts, highlighting the extraordinary talents of both emerging and established performers.
The festival, now in its impressive sixth year, is set against the dynamic backdrop of the FringeArts theatre at 140 N. Christopher Columbus Blvd. As one of the highlights of Philadelphia’s spring cultural calendar, the Hand to Hand Circus Festival has consistently attracted audiences with its unique blend of artistry and athleticism.
The 2024 festival starts with “Begin Again,” a performance that explores the rhythmic cycles of time and the artistic journey. Scheduled for May 31 and June 1, this show features Circadium’s talented students who will dazzle audiences with skills ranging from juggling and aerial acrobatics to clowning and dynamic physical theater. This production, directed by Oregon’s renowned artistic director Ty Vennewitz, is based on the book “Einstein’s Dreams,” offering a narrative that weaves through the complexities of time and the perpetual pursuit of artistic perfection.
On June 2, the festival presents “Test Flights,” an evening dedicated to innovation and experimentation within the circus arts. This program allows performers to present works-in-progress, offering a glimpse into the creative process of circus arts fused with theater, dance, and music.
Throughout the Hand to Hand Circus Festival, attendees can enjoy interactive experiences and educational opportunities that delve deeper into the circus arts.
