Celebrating Black History Month with artistic flair, Curator Ginger Rudolph assembles a selection of Philadelphia Black Artists for Hyatt Centric’s upcoming Maker Series exhibition.
In its ongoing commitment to celebrate the city’s diverse neighborhoods and traditions, Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia proudly presents its first Black History Month Showcase. This event, a part of the “Maker Series“, is meticulously curated by Ginger Rudolph and features a rich tapestry of artwork from Black Philadelphia-based artists. Starting with a “Meet the Makers” reception on January 4 and continuing through February, the exhibition is a vibrant homage to Black History Month.
Ginger Rudolph, a renowned curator, writer, and public art consultant, brings her experience to this upcoming exhibition. She has curated many public art projects in Philadelphia and is a board member of The Rail Park, as well as the founder of HAHA Magazine and HAHAxParadigm. Her passion for art education and community engagement is reflected in the exhibition.
The multi-media exhibit at Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia will display a range of artistic mediums, including textiles, paintings, photography, illustrations, and sculpture. Each piece is a reflection of the city’s vibrant Black artistic community. Artists like Caff Adeus, Jillian Rock, Devon Harrison, Steven CW Taylor, and Kendra Dandy will showcase their unique perspectives and artistic voices.
Caff Adeus, known for his autobiographical paintings, blends cultural references and iconography in his work. Jillian Rock’s multidisciplinary art focuses on the narratives of Blackness and memory. Devon Harrison brings his talents in animation, glass, and chocolate sculpture to the exhibit. Steven CW Taylor, an award-winning visual artist and photographer, captures his cultural experiences in his transformative art. Kendra Dandy, an illustrator and social media sensation, adds her unique voice and style to the collection.
On February 7, the Hyatt Centric will host a “Hear the Makers” discussion panel, emceed by Ginger Rudolph. This event will offer an intimate look into the artists’ creative processes and experiences.
