Philly’s Live Nation boss, Geoff Gordon is running Central Park’s We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert.
When New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled his plans, with label giant and legendary music industry legend Clive Davis, for an all-star lineup to perform at the “WE LOVE NYC: The Homecoming Concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park for Saturday, August 21, the fine print revealed some deep red Philadelphia blood. NYCEDC chair Danny Meyer and Live Nation are in on the free (you can buy VIP tix) mega-concert welcome back to live performances (see the guidelines below) which will feature Bruce Springsteen, LL Cool J, Jennifer Hudson, Paul Simon and many others (see the full list below). But the array of performers and their booking comes down to one man; Philly’s Geoff Gordon, Regional President, Live Nation.
“Live music has the unique ability to bring us together,” writes Gordon, a man also in charge of other huge summer events in Philly such as Hall and Oates’ Hoagie Nation at The Mann and Jay-Z’s Made in America festival in the Art Museum area.
“We are excited to join Mayor de Blasio, Clive Davis, and Danny Meyer in producing this special night of live music as we reconnect fans with some of their favorite artists in Central Park for the WE LOVE NYC: The Homecoming Concert.”
Citi is a presenting sponsor and the Official Card of “WE LOVE NYC: The Homecoming Concert and Citi card members can access presale VIP tickets beginning Thursday, July 29 at 10 a.m. EDT until Sunday, August 1 at 10 p.m. EDT. “There is absolutely no place more special than Central Park to celebrate the reopening of New York City,” said Clive Davis. “I consider the Mayor’s request a true honor; and, with Live Nation, we are curating an unforgettable show befitting of this historic occasion.”
In addition to The Homecoming Concert, a citywide celebration from August 14 through August 22 includes live concerts, produced by the Universal Hip Hop Museum, in the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens; free movie screenings, NYC Restaurant Week and more.
