Famously started by Dr. Beatriz Garces while witnessing the deteriorating health of immigrant community members in the Philadelphia area, the Garces Foundation, shared with local Chef-owner Jose Garces, is dedicated to finding/making resources for those in need “to live healthy, educated, nutritious lives…” according to their press legend. “We believe everyone should have access to the affordable healthcare and educational resources they need.”
To aid in funding the Garces Foundation – and to throw one heck of a party – on an annual basis, the Garces’ host events featuring many of Chef Jose’s friends, fellow chefs, and collaborators in the Philadelphia restaurant business, their food, live music, silent auctions and more. Last night at Live! Casino and Hotel’s Event Center, the Garces Foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary with the brass-heavy Philly ensemble, Snacktime as the event’s official band/emcees, over 30 local chefs, restaurants, cocktail and craft beer purveyors, photo booth operators, DJs and more serving up their finest for the good of the Garces Foundation.
“I’m excited to bring some of Philadelphia’s finest chefs together in one room again in support of the Garces Foundation and the important work it does in the community,” said Chef Garces. “Although the restaurant industry has faced ongoing challenges, it’s amazing to see the continued outpouring of support from our chef community and its willingness to give back. I’ve been thrilled to see the continued support for our work.”
While Garces’ restaurants Amada, Volver, Buena Onda, Olde Bar and more were amply and tastefully represented, particular kudos go out to Forsythia’s Chris Kearse in Old City and offerings from Live! Casino’s Prime Rib (nice Beef Wellington) and the dense, delicious pasta offering from Wilder in the Rittenhouse area.
Check the below list of contributors to the Garces Foundation’s 10th anniversary event and hook them up with support for their support of a great annual cause. And if you couldn’t make it to the gig (at least I didn’t see you), hit the Garces Foundation up with some dough.
