From the famed Rendell Family Fountain’s choreographed displays to family-friendly activities and mouthwatering treats, the park remains one of Philly’s premier destinations for outdoor fun.
Celebrate Spring with Franklin Square
Mark your calendar and bring your family for a joyful return to the season, as Franklin Square hosts its annual season opener on April 19. Festivities kick off with the popular and free Hop-A-Long Trail from 11 AM to 1 PM, inviting children to bring their Easter baskets and collect treats along the route. Franklin Square’s expansive lawns, newly planted trees, and lush green spaces provide the perfect setting for this beloved event, celebrating both springtime and community spirit.

Adding to the excitement, the historic Rendell Family Fountain begins its dazzling performances at noon. At 188 years old, this iconic fountain amazes visitors young and old with spectacular choreographed shows featuring synchronized jets of water dancing gracefully to music and lights. Free performances run daily, every 30 minutes, allowing visitors ample opportunity to witness the mesmerizing displays day or night.

Franklin Square is a destination packed with activities and amenities that promise a full day of family-friendly enjoyment. Enjoy a leisurely round of Philly-themed miniature golf at Philly Mini Golf or take a spin on the Parx Liberty Carousel.


The kids will enjoy exploring the park’s two vibrant playgrounds, free and open year-round. Hungry after playtime? Stop by SquareBurger, operated by Cescaphe, for a bite to eat. SquareBurger opens daily from noon until the park closes.
