The Barnes Foundation is delighted to introduce an exclusive culinary dimension to its First Friday festivities with the debut of the Forsythia Barnes Pop-Up. On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, guests can indulge in a unique dining experience crafted by Chef Christopher Kearse of Forsythia, right in the heart of the Barnes Foundation’s Garden Restaurant.
Chef Kearse, renowned for his innovative approach to French bistro fare, will present a curated seven-course tasting menu priced at $90 per person. The menu reflects his signature style of integrating modern twists into classic dishes, ensuring a culinary journey that’s as exciting as it is satisfying. Diners will begin their meal with a refreshing Green Pea Gazpacho enriched with coconut and lemon balm and delectable Blue Crab Beignets, followed by a rich serving of Escargot à la Provençal, adorned with pickled pearl onions and a fragrant bergamot crouton.
The entrée selections cater to diverse palates, offering a choice between a sumptuously prepared Soft Shell Crab with grilled gem lettuces and almond wood-smoked butter and a robust Dry-Aged Rohan Duck Breast paired with caramelized endive, pistachio pistou, spring radish, and a classic sauce l’orange. Each dish celebrates the season’s freshness while showcasing Chef Kearse’s flair for elevating traditional components.
The culinary voyage culminates in a dessert that is both a nod to tradition and a testament to innovation: Baba au Calvados, served with an 8-hour roasted pineapple and crème fraîche crèmeux. This dessert not only rounds off the meal on a high note but also reflects the sophisticated ambiance of the Barnes Foundation.
The Forsythia Barnes Pop-Up is a fusion of art and cuisine that enhances the First Friday experience. Guests are encouraged to explore the Barnes’ extensive art collection, enjoy live music, and immerse themselves in performances throughout the evening, making it a comprehensive cultural outing.
Tickets for the pop-up are limited to ensure an intimate dining experience, aligning with the Barnes Foundation’s commitment to offering unique and enriching experiences to its visitors. Reservations are essential and can be made online.
The Barnes Foundation continues to innovate how art and community interact, providing an enriching environment that celebrates the best of Philadelphia’s artistic and culinary offerings: art, music, and exquisite dining.
