Tribaja celebrates the completion of its three day Diversitech Summit with a rooftop closing reception at the W Philadelphia Hotel.
This past weekend marked the end of Tribaja’s signature event, Diversitech Summit 2022, with the Black Innovators Ball that gathered over 100 diverse talent and tech sector insiders at the W Philadelphia hotel.
During the closing reception, Tribaja founder Shannon Morales smiled as guests welcomed her and continued to network with each other.
“The thought was to bring together local innovators to really have a good time and network with each other and not feel excluded or anything,” said Morales. “I will say it’s one of the biggest events especially focused around professionals of color, innovators, entrepreneurs, as well as professionals in the tech industry. So it’s really just a good time all around.”
Since 2020, Tribaja — coined from the blending of “tribe” and trabaja, the Spanish term “labor” — has evolved into a “community” of people interested in tech careers, including a thriving Slack group. Diversitech Summit 2022 drew 2,000 participants to virtual programming, which is double what was attended last year.
“It’s all about creating pathways for those who have been traditionally under supported,” Morales added. “Right now Tribaja is all about creating that tribe and that support system that they may not otherwise have had before.”
As part of Tribaja’s three-day workshop and panel discussions, the Diversitech Summit featured hand-picked industry experts who gave perspectives on tech career development, resume optimization skills, guidance on career transitions, and networking opportunities.
