Philadelphia’s leading domestic violence agency, Women Against Abuse, Inc., is set to host its 16th annual Dish It Up on Thursday, June 6 at Vie by Cescape on North Broad Street. This event will bring together Philadelphia’s top women chefs and community leaders for an evening of culinary delights, entertainment, and fundraising in support of domestic violence survivors. Tickets are now on sale, priced at $150 for General Admission and $75 for young professionals.
Women Against Abuse, Inc. is a major domestic violence service provider, helping 10,000 people annually with emergency housing, legal services, hotline counseling, education, and advocacy. They operate Philadelphia’s only domestic violence shelters and one of the nation’s first legal centers for people experiencing intimate partner.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. for a VIP hour, featuring hors d’oeuvres by Winnie’s Manayunk, live entertainment, and more. This year’s event will be hosted by Aunyea Lachelle.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Philly’s top female chefs will compete for the best savory and sweet dish of the night. Winners will be selected by a panel of celebrity judges, including Chef Jennifer Carroll, Chef Eli Collins, Christine Curran, Tamara Davis, Emilio Mignucci, and Sharon Thompson-Schill.
The complete list of 2024 participating chefs includes Cristina Martinez of South Philadelphia Barbacoa and Casa Mexico, Dawn Frazier of Ms. Dawn’s Catering and Cafe, Emily Chellew of Cry Baby Pasta, Heather Portis of Cescape, Jennifer Zavala of Juana Tamale, Justine MacNeil of Fiore, and Kate Hughes of High Street Philadelphia. Other competitive chefs include Maeve Joyce of Ocean Prime Philadelphia, Mariangeli Alicea Saez of Cantina La Martina, Rebecca Foxman of Fox & Son Fancy Corn Dogs, Stephanie Willis of Everybody Eats, Tanesha Trippett of Jacobs Northwest, and Tonii Hicks, a private chef and James Beard House Fellow.
Attendees will also enjoy an open bar featuring espresso martinis by Bean2Bean, and mocktails by New Jersey’s Gem Life Collective, a booze-free bottle shop and pop-up bar owned by Drew Davis.
