Dance Philly!

Maybe it is okay to dance again, Philly? Here is a shortlist of upcoming nightlife experiences to indulge in.

So, yes, I’m glad that mask mandates are still an ongoing thing in Philadelphia because I love not catching colds, and I’m actually fond of not having to edge my sideburns with my electric facial hedge trimmer daily. That said, it may be time to dance that mess around Philly, and nearby with your friends – which means breaking the fourth wall of social distance just a bit.

An entirely different 90s vibe – all that flashy pop-hop and funky, fleshy R&B – will be on display on the dancefloor courtesy of DJ Will Eastman and visualist LizLuke. This party starts at 11:30. I’m excited for the later nights’ jam.

A free Land of the Lost 80s dance party at World Café Life, March 11
Nobody in this city does the glossy, flossy past – the dressed-up, asymmetrical 80s – like DJ Robert Drake does. To go with his Friday night radio show of the same name, Drake will host and spin a free Land of the Lost jam right across 30th Street.

LCD Soundsystem, March 28-31 at Franklin Music Hall
When does a band qualify as an extended DJ set? When it is New York City’s finest, fronted by the legendary DFA label founder James Murphy. By the way, that’s four whole nights, friends.

Spirit of NOLA: Tributes to Art Neville & Dr. John at Ardmore Music Hall, March 11
David Dye and Julian Booker will host and spin made N’Orleans parish funk with the swirl of live, like-minded music (Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), John “Papa” Gros, New Orleans Suspects, Big Sam) around them for swift measure.
