After a year and a half, City Winery has re-opened and is now not only selling wine, they’re making it, as well, as they introduce their signature private label, created at their urban vineyard here in Philadelphia.
Covid put a lot of things on pause for so many. While a good number of establishments did not make it to the other side, it is always great to learn of the ones that did persevere. One of those tales of triumph belongs to City Winery Philadelphia which originally opened at the back end of 2019, in Center City at the Philly Fashion District City Winery has reopened its doors with a full menu, upcoming live performances and in early 2022, their own signature wines, straight from their urban vineyard with hand selected grapes fermented in Philly at the Fashion District.
“It’s been a long time coming and we’re finally making wine here in Philly,” said City Winery Philadelphia’s Winemaker Isaac Clark. “While being involved in the winemaking process at the City Winery in Hudson Valley, New York has been incredible, I am extremely happy to be home in Philly for our first true harvest. We’re kicking things off with a gorgeous crop from California in the form of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. We may have some more tricks up our sleeve with future pick-dates for other fruit, but fermentation is underway and it’s looking like a great vintage.”
First sips of the City Winery Philadelphia signature line will be available to guests in early 2022.
