Evil Genius Beer Co. presents “Challenge Accepted Week”, celebrating the launch of its new Hazy Imperial IPA.
Philadelphia-based Evil Genius Beer Co. is gearing up for an exciting week-long celebration in honor of the release of their latest brew, Challenge Accepted. This highly anticipated Hazy Imperial IPA, boasting an impressive 9% ABV, will be showcased during “Challenge Accepted Week” from June 24th to July 1st. The event will feature diverse activities, including a mini-beer festival, beer tastings, a blood drive, beer education, a themed quizzo, a hot wing eating event, and a competitive cornhole tournament. The festivities will occur at the Evil Genius “Lab” in Fishtown, Philadelphia.
Challenge Accepted is a double-dry hopped ale infused with Zamba hops, imparting a bold tropical fruit profile characterized by notes of pineapple and mango. The beer is complemented by Idaho-7 and Motueka hops and offers a delightful taste of juicy orange and citrus with minimal bitterness. This new brew is available in the brewery’s latest packaging format—19.2oz cans—and can be found at their taproom (Lab) and various bottle shops throughout Evil Genius’ distribution network.
Kicking off Challenge Accepted Week on June 24th is the Sour Fest mini-beer festival, dedicated to the brewery’s new and vintage sour ales. Attendees can sample exclusive beers like “Good Morning To Everyone Except Grandpa Joe” and “I Said What I Said,” accompanied by six other remarkable brews. Tickets for the festival cost $24, including tastings and a pint of choice.
On June 26th, Evil Genius will partner with the American Red Cross for a blood drive from 9am to 2pm. Donors will receive a complimentary beer token as a gesture of appreciation. Interested participants can schedule an appointment through the Red Cross website.
Beer enthusiasts can join Head Brewer Matt Lally on June 27th for an engaging course on Off Flavors in beer. Attendees will embark on an interactive tasting experience featuring five beers spiked with off flavors, gaining insights into detection, root causes, and their impact on brewing. This educational event’s ticket includes regular beer and pretzel bites as palate cleansers.
A unique twist awaits on June 29th with the “Spelling Bee(r)” hosted by Lunch Money Quizzo. This adult spelling bee offers prizes for winners in each round, and admission is free.
On June 30th, Evil Genius presents “Hop Ones,” a hot-wing eating event inspired by the popular YouTube show “Hot Ones.” Attendees will savor progressively spicier wings featuring sauces from the official Hot Ones’ lineup and local maker Phishtown Sauce Company. Ten sauces, ranging from mild to intense, including Phishtown Sauce Co.’s “Sauce Upon The Waves” and Hot Ones’ “Last Dab XXX,” will be featured. Vegetarian wings will also be available upon request.
The week-long celebration concludes with a competitive cornhole tournament on July 1st. Teams will compete in a double-elimination format to win a custom-branded Evil Genius mini fridge fully stocked with beer. The second-place team will receive a $50 gift card. Registration for the tournament is now open on the brewery’s website.
