Celebrating cultural cuisines, Boodle Fight Night, the one-night Filipino and Spanish Feast, is a communal dining experience.
Oloroso is hosting Boodle Fight Night on Monday, January 22, marking the return of Chef Elizabeth “Liz” Grothe. Chef Grother and Oloroso’s Executive Chef Jason Peabody will offer an extraordinary dining experience, showcasing a blend of new-school Filipino techniques and traditional Spanish culinary methods.
“Boodle Fight” originates from American military slang, describing a communal dining experience that resembles the Filipino Kamayan feast. This dining style emphasizes familial bonds and sharing, central themes of the upcoming Boodle Fight Night at Oloroso. The event promises a diverse range of courses that include comfort and fatty foods, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of the Philippines and Spain.
The menu for Boodle Fight Night, priced at $85 per person, features an array of dishes that showcase the harmonious blend of Filipino and Spanish flavors. Guests can enjoy Lumpia Shanghai with sweet and sour sauce, Empanada with giniling, and Cheesesteak Croqueta with banana ketchup for warm-ups. The main courses include garlic rice, Collard Green Laing, curried squash mushrooms, Max’s style fried chicken, house-made Longanisa, and Oloroso Cabeza (pig’s head). The meal concludes with a Mango-Turmeric Chiffon Cake for dessert.
For an additional $45 per person, diners can opt for a wine pairing curated by Oloroso’s in-house sommelier, Gordana Kostovski. Other add-ons, such as Jolli Spaghetti and Ube Hand Pie, are available for $15 per dish.
Chef Grothe reflects on her return to Oloroso with fondness, acknowledging the significant role Chef Peabody played in her culinary journey. She aims to convey her solid familial bond with Peabody through the food they will present at Boodle Fight Night.
Reservations for this one-of-a-kind event are highly recommended, with two seatings available at 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm.
