Philadelphia’s Adam Blackstone wins an Emmy Award for his 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show.
When the winning names came up at this past weekend’s Emmy Awards for Creatives, and Adam Blackstone got called to pick up an Emmy for his music direction for his work on “The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent,” a loud bell rang out: Philly’s in the house. After a dip in its viewership, Blackstone’s NFL Super Bowl show brought 103.4 plus million people to the small screen.
Famously, a bassist-composer for one-time locally-based R&B singers Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius and Vivian Green – to say nothing of having played for Michael Jackson – and a habitue of more than his share of live Philly open mics, Adam Blackstone has been the backbone of live shows for Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Maroon 5 and Eminem as their musical director. Just the other day in Cali, Blackstone moved from behind the scenes, again, to the front of the stage for his first-ever solo (with friends) showcase, The Legacy Experience residency at Los Angeles’s newest live music venue (and previous home to the Hollywood House of Blues) the Sun Rose.
“I’m bringing East Coast vibes to the West Coast,” Adam Blackstone told Variety of playing musical host and multi-instrumental wizard to guests at his Sun Rose residency such as Eric Benet.
All of these awards and live gig thrills precede the imminent release of Blackstone’s new album “Legacy” which will drop on September 23, as well as that of his upcoming broadcast experiences in music direction, leading live productions of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (November 2) and the 2023 Grammy Awards (February 5, 2023).
And according to reports out of Los Angeles, Adam Blackstone is ready to bring his Super Bowl bill of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and more to a live stage near you.
